  • It does not need a notary to be valid. Sign it, and keep a signed copy.
  • The Domestic Workers Act, Republic Act No. 10361 (RA 10361 or Batas Kasambahay), requires a written contract signed before work starts, in a language both of you understand. Explain it in Filipino or the kasambahay's own language, and give them a signed copy.
  • The wage may not be lower than the minimum wage for domestic workers in your region, set by the regional wage board (the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, or RTWPB). Rates change. Check the latest wage order for your region on the National Wages and Productivity Commission website before you fill in the wage.

  • Family drivers, and people who do housework only now and then, are not covered by RA 10361.
